Release 8.54
This release puts Drive in the spotlight — OpenCloud accounts, a folder tree you arrange yourself, folder colors and search across a whole storage account — alongside a daily catch-up from the AI assistant, automatic replies that can answer colleagues and outsiders differently, and menus that finally agree with each other across the whole application.
- A daily catch-up from the AI assistant: After time away, a “While you were away” chat is created automatically and announced by a dot on the AI button. It reports the new mail, upcoming appointments and due tasks since you were last active, says on each card what it asks of you, and offers the next steps as buttons. How long an absence has to be, and whether the digest may create tasks for you, are settings of your own.
- The assistant shows its thinking — and can be stopped: Answers can carry a collapsible “Thoughts” block summarizing how the assistant got there, and a new “Thinking Effort” setting (Off, Low, Medium, High) decides how much of that work it does. While an answer is being written the send button becomes a stop button, and stopping really stops: the pending exchange is discarded and nothing is kept. The assistant also suggests fresh example prompts each day, and the mobile compose chat is now a full-screen view that can be minimized.
- Switch the Drive layout straight from the toolbar: Buttons for the list, icons and tiles layouts, and for showing or hiding the file details. The details panel now opens as wide as a side panel and can be resized by dragging its left edge.
- Move files and mails to recently used folders: The Move button in both Drive and Mail now offers the folders you moved things to recently, so moving to the same folder again no longer needs the folder picker. Folders that no longer exist drop out of the list on their own, and a mail moved this way can be undone like any other move.
- Give a Drive folder a color: Folders can be marked with a color of their own from the folder view's context menu — a personal mark that is not shared with anyone the folder is shared with. Folder icons were redrawn as one consistent outline so a colored folder stands out while every folder still looks like the same icon, and a selected folder no longer fades into its row.
- Search a whole storage account: Drive search can now cover an entire connected account rather than a single folder, with one entry per account, a clear choice between “Current folder only” and “Current folder and subfolders”, and a start in the account you are looking at instead of always the primary one. Search now also works in “My attachments”, and recognizes many more file types — iPhone photos (HEIC/HEIF), WebP, AVIF, FLAC, Matroska video, CSV, and Apple Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents — with archives matched by their extension.
- A Drive folder tree you arrange yourself: Folders are grouped into a named section per storage, and those sections can be reordered or hidden — from the tree itself, or from the new “Folders and accounts” page in Drive settings.
- Connect an OpenCloud account to Drive: OpenCloud storage can now be integrated into Drive, giving access to the account's Personal, Spaces and Trash folders. Files and folders can be shared by public link, with an access level, a password and an expiry date, and the link copied to the clipboard in one step. The storage widget reports the storage you are actually looking at — per space for OpenCloud — and stays out of the way where a storage publishes no quota.
- The existing Nextcloud integration gained the same polish: translated folder names, icons of its own, how full each folder is, public links, opening a file directly in Nextcloud, and recovery from the account's trash.
- Automatic replies can answer colleagues and outsiders differently: An out-of-office reply can carry one text for senders inside your organization and another for everyone outside it, or go to colleagues only. The AI assistant can set, update, activate and deactivate the notice for you from the chat. The feature is switched on per deployment.
- More control in Calendar: Deputies can optionally be allowed to see confidential appointments with all their details. New accounts can be provisioned with a default reminder time, and an iCal import can apply your own reminders instead of the ones in the file. CalDAV clients can subscribe to a new virtual “All my public appointments” collection.
- Instant sync for CalDAV and CardDAV clients: Calendar and address book clients such as DAVx5 can now be notified of changes as they happen, over a new Web Push transport, instead of polling for them.
- Themes can restyle more, and a new one to try: Themes now reach fonts, corner radii, shadows and popup borders, and several colors that previously ignored the theme now follow it. The new “Curses” theme uses all of it for a nostalgic text-UI look: monospace, square-cornered and dark, with a cyan accent.
- User provisioning via SCIM 2.0: The middleware supports the SCIM 2.0 standard, allowing it to function as a service provider that enables seamless user provisioning from major identity providers. More information can be found here
- Users leave the company: When someone leaves the company, their account first enters a “soft-deleted” state: locked, but not gone. Made a mistake? Just restore it. More information can be found here

- For plugin developers: Tailwind CSS v4: Core UI now emits a Tailwind v4 utility layer beside the existing cascade, which plugins may use without adding Tailwind to their own build. This is a breaking change — a number of utility classes must be renamed, and a further set is deprecated and will be removed with 8.56. See the changelog and

Warning

This release introduces enhanced collaboration capabilities, including support for multiple calendars within shared accounts and the expansion of cross-context sharing to include mail, deputies, and "send-on-behalf" functionality.
- Multiple calendars per shared account: A shared account can now hold more than one calendar, all listed under “Shared accounts” — the default one under the account name, additional ones as “account: calendar”. New calendars are created from the default calendar's context menu, appointments can be moved between calendars of the same account, and the usual calendar permissions apply throughout.
- Cross-context sharing extended to mail and deputies: Building on the cross-context collaboration introduced in 8.52, mail and calendar folders can be shared with users of another context, deputies appointed for them, and mail sent on their behalf; those users appear in autocomplete and in all address pickers. Release 8.52
This release brings self-service scheduling to App Suite, makes it quicker to organize and find mail, and moves settings and notifications into side panels, alongside accessibility and performance improvements throughout.
- Appointment Polls: Propose a set of possible times and share the poll's link. Invitees vote yes, no or maybe in their own time zone without needing an App Suite account, and picking the winning time closes the poll, creates the appointment and invites everyone who took part.
- Appointment Booking: Publish what can be booked and when, and let others pick a free time from a public booking page. Confirmed bookings arrive in both calendars as ordinary invitations, and can be rescheduled or cancelled from a link in the confirmation mail.
- Categories from a searchable dropdown: Type to filter the list, or type a new name to create the category and apply it in one step. The same picker assigns categories to mails, appointments, contacts and tasks, and filters searches by category.
- Sortable mail search results: Search results can now be sorted and ordered like a normal folder, by sender, subject or size rather than only by date. Cancelling the search restores the folder's own sort order.
- Settings and notifications as side panels: The settings menu and notifications now open in a side panel instead of a floating popover, with keyboard focus moving into the panel as it opens and returning to the button that opened it on close. Calendar reminders and invitations offer a “Show in calendar” link that highlights the appointment in the current view.
- Cross-Context Collaboration: Calendars, mail folders and deputy roles can be shared with users of another context in the same deployment, without a guest account standing in for the foreign user, and only between contexts an operator has explicitly allowed to collaborate. Release 8.51
This release adds new ways to organize contacts, plan work across Mail, Calendar, and Tasks, and manage email signatures centrally, while also improving performance, security, and everyday usability throughout App Suite.
- Managed email signatures and templates: Administrators can centrally provide predefined, read-only email signatures and templates. These appear in settings and compose with a clear predefined badge and can use placeholders that are filled with the user’s contact data.
- Central design management for Signature Designer: Operators can now provide and control Signature Designer templates and design policies centrally, including visibility, ordering, defaults, labels, and custom fields.
- Improved BIMI logo support: BIMI now supports local-part selectors, allowing different brand logos for specific sender addresses on the same domain.
- More flexible scheduled sending: Scheduled send now offers additional quick options for afternoon and evening, alongside the existing morning options. Scheduled messages are queued within a short time window, helping distribute delivery more evenly.
- Tasks in the calendar: Users can now show tasks with due dates directly in Calendar. The new Tasks calendar can be enabled in Calendar settings and shown or hidden like any other calendar.
- More context for shared and delegated tasks: Task details now show who created a task when it was created by someone else, for example in shared task lists or delegated task workflows.
- Choose where new contacts are saved: The contact creation dialog now includes a “Save in” picker, allowing users to choose the private, public, or shared address book where a new contact should be stored.
- Private appointments by default: Users can now mark new appointments as private by default for their own calendars, making it easier to protect calendar details consistently.
- Resizable all-day area in Calendar: In day and week views, desktop users can now resize the all-day section when many all-day appointments need more space.
- Automatic replies for every received email: Users can now configure automatic email replies that are sent for each received message.
- Client-side blocking of external mail content: Detection and blocking of external images and other external resources in email content now happens in the browser, alongside the existing client-side sanitization.
- Ongoing date and time modernization: App Suite now includes Tempo, a new wrapper around JavaScript’s Temporal API, providing a consistent foundation for date and time handling across the UI.

Release 8.50
This release introduces several improvements for email management and accessibility, making App Suite easier to use for both everyday workflows and assistive technologies.
- One-click newsletter unsubscribe: Newsletters and mailing lists now display an unsubscribe banner. When supported, a single click is enough to unsubscribe; otherwise, the relevant unsubscribe page opens automatically.
- Enhanced accessibility throughout App Suite: This release includes a broad range of accessibility improvements, including better keyboard navigation, improved screen reader support, enhanced focus handling, clearer ARIA semantics, and improved color contrast across various areas of the user interface.
- Unread indicators for shared mailboxes: Shared mail accounts now show unread message indicators across all folders, making it easier to spot new activity at a glance.
- More control over sent mail in shared accounts: When sending messages from a shared account, users can now choose where copies of sent messages are stored.
